DEATH TAKES W.J. LYON, 81 - Rites on Friday for Retired Farmer
William J. Lyon, 81, retired farmer, died Wednesday at his home, 1051 Twenty-third st., following an illness of several months.
Born in Madison county, Mr. Lyon lived on a farm near Winterset, Ia., until 1913 when he retired and moved to DesMoines.
Surviving are his wife, Clara; three sons, Lon of Patterson, Ia., and Fred and Lloyd of DesMoines; six daughters, Mrs. Will Quick, Winterset, Ia., Mrs. Clyde Hope, Garden Grove, Ia., Mrs. Alfred McCleary, Carlisle, Ia., Mrs. Douglas Walford, Boone, Ia., and Mrs. Jack Bradley and Mrs. Charles Quick of DesMoines, 21 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
Services will be at Hamilton's Funeral home at 2pm Friday, with burial at Glendale. |
